Eligible applicants are parents or guardians of children verified as members of at least one-quarter degree Indian blood descent. School officials, employees, their spouses, and anyone paid through JOM funding are not eligible to serve. Open positions include a two-year Parent Committee seat and a one-year Vice-Chair seat. Committee members are expected to attend at least five meetings during the school year, represent parents and students in the community, and participate in committee decisions. Interested eligible parents and guardians should attend the October 5 election meeting.

Stilwell Public Schools’ Indian Education Committee will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Stilwell High School Library, 1801 W. Locust, Stilwell, OK 74960.

The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss current issues involving our JOM/Indian Education Program. Parents, guardians, and community members are invited to attend and learn more about the program.

The evening will also include the JOM Indian Education Committee (IEC) Election Meeting for a Parent Committee seat and Vice-Chair seat. The JOM IEC provides parents with an opportunity to represent families in our community and help support the educational needs of eligible Native American students.

Parents or guardians interested in serving are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements and committee expectations included in the accompanying notice and attend the election meeting.
